In answer to your questions:
1. The...Hi Kathleen,

In answer to your questions:

1. The format of the programme means that we will be setting tasks and often giving step-by-step instructions on how to do things. We have therefore chosen specific sites/tools in order to be able to give clear instructions and to avoid confusion. However if you would prefer to explore or use a different site that does the same thing, then please feel free to do so, as long as you can complete the tasks that are set.

2. All the sites/tools do have privacy options, and it is good practice to look at these and adjust the settings whenever signing up to a new site. Most of the sites we will be using as part of the programme don't require you to supply personal data that will be made public. The main thing is that you control all the information you give, and can make your presence as private or public as you choose. We would like to encourage openness to a certain extent, as sharing is a large part of web 2.0, but when it comes down to it, it's up to you. Individual instructions for the different Things may include mention of privacy features as appropriate, but if this is something that concerns you then do look for the privacy settings.

Hope you enjoy the programme!Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11388323094934073540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8734434012999390161.post-71050544180823441842010-01-19T12:28:15.260+00:002010-01-19T12:28:15.260+00:00I'm just starting out on this journey and curi...I'm just starting out on this journey and curious about two aspects of it:
1) Are we going to be directed into using particular brands of software packages or can we choose our own?
2) If we're not keen on having a personal web presence, will there be any tips on maintaining limited access by the outside world?Kathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00084651847842913245noreply@blogger.com
