What is a start page (or web portal)? A start page is a customisable homepage. Some examples are iGoogle, Netvibes, My Yahoo!). The example you will be exploring as part of Thing 1 will be iGoogle.
iGoogle lets you create a personalised homepage that contains a Google search box at the top, and your choice of any number of gadgets below.
